Mama Mia! The succulent pasta that is Italy! This presentation covers my 2023 trip to Italy and the cacti and succulents I discovered along the way. Italians are crazy about 4 things: pasta, wine, soccer and succulents! There are not many native species of succulents in Italy but there are a lot everywhere you turn and this presentation will focus on the plants of the country and more on their natural beauty. So bring your appetite as we dive deep into the world of succulents in Italy! Biography: David Feller has been around the nursery business since a young child when his parents owned "The Orchid Farm" nursery. He grew up helping his parents with their nursery and that is where he first started his admiration of plants. He started collecting his first plants at 8 years old and has had decades of experience, growing, propagating and exploring plants in different locations. He has travelled to numerous countries and documented the plants that he has seen there. These explorations have been documented in several presentations which he has given to local plant societies and clubs. His travels have taken him to 4 continents and he plans on continuing his exploration with more expeditions. He has been a member of the San Antonio Cactus and Xerophyte society and has served as their president and currently serves as the vice president of Field Trips. He is also a member of the Austin Cactus and Succulent Society as well as the Alamo Orchid Society. He owns a nursery called, "A Bugs Home Nursery" in San Antonio where he focuses on cacti, succulents and native perennials. His passion is to understand as much as he can about our natural environment and how we can better conserve our beautiful natural resources.
